The latest project from NASA is the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle which is being designed to take a four man crew to Mars or asteroids.
The Orion MPCV is to be launched, like Apollo, on a Delta rocket and take it into low earth orbit. Then an inflatable habitat will be used to house the crew as they fly the six months to Mars. During that time they will have to exercise for two hours every day or face losing bone and muscle mass.
A Chilliwack connection
Max de Jong of Thin Red Line Aerospace in Chilliwack is working on technology for NASA.
His company is designing the inflatable habitat in which the astronauts will live during the long voyage to Mars.
