Machine methods

Modern metalworking relies on the use of  variety of machines.
Heat can be used to soften or melt metal.

Casting involves melting and pouring into a mold.

Extruding requires the metal to be heated until soft and then forced through a shaped opening (die).

Forging may be done at various temperatures.  The metal is forced (hammered, bent or stamped into shape
Caution, melted metals are very hot, often exceeding 1000 deg. centigrade.
Protective safety gear must be worn.
